What Happened to the Room?

I hopped over to DCS to see if the students were back. I was so surprised to see the room. Oh my. It looks so different. Everything was in the hallway. The room will be cleaned this week to get ready for a new group of KinderKids. I can't wait to meet the new class. I wonder how last year's students are doing.

Out To Appledore Island

Last Sunday, I took a trip to Appledore Island to visit the Shoals Marine Lab. I left Portsmouth NH on the Gulf Challenger and enjoyed the hour long ride to the island. The captain let me come up front for a better view.

On our way out, we saw a one of the Tall Ships that was visiting Portsmouth.

There were lots of sea gulls on Appledore so I didn't want to hop around on the trails. I tried to get a ride in this little vehicle. Mostly, my friends carried me around to protect me from the birds.

The gulls nest on Appledore and this is the time of year when their babies have hatched. The parents are very protective of their babies and do not like it when someone comes to close to a baby gull.

Celia Thaxter, a famous American writer, lived on Appledore Island long ago. Her house is no longer standing but you can see the foundation. Her garden has been recreated and it was in full bloom. I loved the flowers.
The painter, Childe Hassam, knew Celia Thaxter and visited Appledore. He painted Celia's garden and many other scenes on the island.
